  • Tauparapara

Ko hea, Ko hea tērā maunga e tū mai rā, Ko Taranaki pea,

Nukunuku mai, nekeneke mai ki taku tauaro kikini ai e ha!

    Aha kekeke noa, kekeke noa.

What is the name of that place, what is the name of that peak, standing forth, Is it not Taranaki? Come forward, Come close to us, In our presence, feel and acknowledge our avowals, As our hearts beat with conviction.

This wānanga will explore the impact of “Te Pire Whakatupua mō Te Kāhui Tupua - Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Bill” that has now been added to NZ legislation and giving effect to Taranaki Maunga as a living and breathing tupuna, ancestor.

We will have the negotiators for this kaupapa that will be speaking to us about their experiences with the Crown and an opportunity to ask pātai. We will then explore our current modern day interactions with our maunga, our tangata whenua relationship and our collective responsibilities that we have to care for our taonga.

We will then look at the connection that this kaupapa has to “Te Whare Tapu o Te Ngākau Māori” and in particular “Ngākau Kaitiaki”. This wānanga is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Te Whare Tapu o Te Ngākau Māori and how we link this context to our progressions in out pukapuka.

We look forward to sharing this amazing kōrero with you. Ki te wheiao, ki ta ao marama.
