“Building Tiriti-centric learning and teaching practices is a way for us to honor the spirit and vision of the Tiriti by creating educational spaces that respect and elevate the voices and perspectives of Māori. This approach encourages us to be more mindful, inclusive, and reflective of Aotearoa's bicultural heritage, ensuring that our educational environment respects and integrates Māori perspectives, histories, and knowledge. My time at Waitangi reinforced my commitment to these practices and inspired me to continue fostering learning experiences that embody the principles of partnership, protection, and participation central to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.”

“Understanding and perceiving the world through a Māori lens is vital for fostering a more inclusive and respectful society. A Māori perspective brings a holistic approach to whakapapa, taiao and the hapori, encouraging us to appreciate the interconnectedness of people and place. It challenges us to rethink our assumptions and to view issues and opportunities from a perspective that values collective well-being and ancestral knowledge. This experience reminded me of the importance of integrating these insights into my daily life and work, so we can create spaces where Māori voices, perspectives, and values are honored and upheld.”
