Kākāriki Rātaka

  • 4:30pm: Pōwhiri at Te Pā, Waikato University, Kirikiriroa

    5:00pm–6:30pm: Whakanoa & Whanaungatanga, Inu & Kai

    Te Pā, Waikato University

    5:00pm–6:30pm: Registration Open at Whanaungatanga Event

    8:00pm-8:30pm:Registration Open at Novotel Tainui Reception

  • 7:30am: Collect packed lunch at Novotel Tainui Reception

    8:15am: eBike Orientation at River River Riders Waikato, Friends Lane, Gate 2  at Hamilton Gardens 

    You will provide your own transport, it is a 9min drive/uber

    9:00am: eBike depart, 2 hour journey

    11:00am: Arrive to Mangaharakeke Paa, narrative kōrero and lunch

    11:45am: Waka Orientation

    12:15pm: Waka depart to Ngāruawāhia, 2 hour journey

    2:15pm: Arrive to Ngāruawāhia Rowing Club

    2:45pm: Depart Ngāruawāhia to Novotel Tainui, 30min journey

    3:15pm: Return to River Riders, if you need to collect your waka the bus can drop you back to Hamilton Gardens to collect

    6:30pm: Private Movie Screening: Ka Whawhai Tonu, Metro Hoyts Hamilton, Centre Place Shopping Centre, 56 Ward Street, Hamilton

  • Small backpack with:

    • Drink bottle

    • Packed lunch, this is collected at Novotel Tainui Reception at 7:30am

    • Light rain jacket / plastic poncho

    • Sun hat

    • Light change of clothes

    Please wear clothing suitable for movement

  • 8:00am: Bus departs for Mangatoatoa Paa, please meet at Novotel Tainui Reception ready for a 8:00am departure

    8:45am: Mangatoatoa Paa, koha collection

    9:00am: Pōwhiri, Mangatoatoa Paa

    9:45am:Whakanoa/Paramanawa, collect packed lunch box

    10:10am: Matua Hone Kōrero

    11:00: Ōrākau

    12:10pm: Lunch, at Selwyn Park Information Centre, Te Awamutu

    1:00pm: Alexandra Redoubt, Bellot Street, Pirongia

    2:20pm: Rangiaowhia

    4:10pm: Arrive at Novotel Tainui

    6:30pm: Hākari Kai: Conference Dinner for those who have purchased tickets

    Please note, the times above are estimates only. Kaikōrero will be speaking at the Paa and significant sites for up to 50 minutes. If you prefer, you are welcome to travel in your own waka. *Kaikōrero will no longer speak on the buses.

  • Smart casual dress for Pōwhiri.

    Paa sites may be muddy in places, please wear suitable shoes.
